Stuffed

Last week i went to a frozen yogurt place with my Communications class. It was great timing because i had just eaten so dessert sounded great! As i’m grabbing my cup to put the yogurt in i realize that they are out of the smaller size and only have the largest size available. A smile comes across my face as i get excited because that means i get to splurge and get a little extra. I end almost filling the entire cup, which i thought was great! As we, as a class, are talking i’m stuffing my face with yogurt. I mean, it’s only yogurt right? There’s no way it can fill me up. . False. Much to my demise, after spending about 15 minutes devouring frozen yogurt i spent the next two and a half hours with a very uncomfortable, unhappy stomach! I was stuffed to the brim!

This brought to mind how i stuff myself with other things as well. You see, we’re always stuffing ourselves; whether it be our stomachs with food, our heads with media, our minds with knowledge, maybe our closets with clothes, our bank with money, okay you get the point.

You see, all these things aren’t necessarily bad. They are, conditionally good, or maybe in better terms, good for a while. At first they make us feel good. We stuff our stomachs because we’re hungry but we always get hungry again. We fill our closets with clothes because it will help our image but our clothes go out of style and we always desire new ones. Media tells us what we have to be and fills our brains with things we can never be.

—->Our lives are stuffed all the time<—-

But did you ever think that they may be stuffed with the wrong things. How much satisfaction does your new clothes bring you? I mean for a few days you might be excited about it but your new shirt, it’ll go out of style. Those new pair of pants you just bought and have been in your closet, unworn, for a few months, they didn’t do anything for you.

—->What should our lives be stuffed with then?<—-

You can probably guess where i am going with this. You see, Jesus is always good. He is ever satisfying. And he never grows old. You can stuff your life with Jesus and finally find the satisfaction you’ve always been looking for. Jesus says, “come to me all who are thirsty, and thirst no more.” We all are searching for that thing that will satisfy, that will fill the gap that we have tried to fill with: food, clothes, knowledge, media, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.

Jesus says, “I am the way the truth and the life.” What you’ve been looking for in life all this time, look no further, find your rest and satisfaction in Jesus.
